2,710 Points of Light // Mike Lustig

Located at the Missoula Public Library
This piece is located on the Missoula Public Library stairwell positioned at a height that gives people of all ages the ability to interact with the piece. Lustig has made sculptures involving light, reflection, dichroics, and analog projection since 2010 and he has a multi-faceted background with fabrication experience in metals, glass, plastics, and electronics. A major focus of his work involves the interplay between dichroics, lenses, and reflective materials. 2,710 points of light follows these same principles.
Scratch // Matt Babcock

Scratch is located in a seating area adjacent to an off-leash dog run in The Montana Rail Link Park. The artwork serves several purposes: it welcomes visitors to the park, marks the dog run as a place of chaotic playfulness, and invites folks to sit, scratch, and take a break from the action.
“The design of my sculpture and use of American Standard I-beams connect the piece with the history of the site and the design of the park, which incorporates a number of railroad artifacts.” -Matt Babcock

This 20' tall interactive sculpture tells the story of changing water. A rolling wave pours into a crashing one that flows into an eddy. High enough to walk under, admirers might be reminded of the primal forces of nature. A project of the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.
Arc of Life // Stuart Nakamura

Arc of Life pays homage to the fire fighting and emergency services performed by the firefighters in the Missoula community with three art elements: stainless steel & granite interpretive centerpiece, a concrete pad with natural stone path and risers for engraved metal plates. Using the element of water as a symbol of life and sustenance, Arc of Life reaches into this aspect of tribute imagery to generate a remembrance of the act of saving lives. It is a place for healing, remembrance and praise. A project of the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.

This 100' long sculpture doubles as a bicycle rack for Splash Montana. A series of 25 pipe forms increase in height from 3' to 10', forming a wave shape. A project of the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.
Proper Shoppers // Tom Rippon
Sculpture created in 2002.
Located at the Mountain Line Transfer Center.
This solid bronze sculpture of a stylized grandmother and her favorite grandchild was created by Missoula artist, Tom Rippon, a ceramics professor at the University of Montana. A project of the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.

Milk Hollern created this whimsical, ferros cement depiction of a sprawled alley cat. A project of the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.
Crossings // Taag Peterson
Sculpture created in 1986.
Located in front of the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot at the north end of Higgins Ave. Four large red X's made of enamel on metal with concrete wingwalls and platform set on a stone ballast, it represents railroad themes. The X's relate to the tall trestles necessary for crossing mountain ravines. A project of the City of Missoula Public Art Committee.
